  • I am an Assistant Professor of Medicine at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, Weill Cornell Medical College, and I am interested in studying and promoting risk-adapted therapeutic strategies in patients with thyroid cancer with the ultimate goal of developing interventions that reduce harm and improve cancer prognosis. I am currently studying the performance of NanoString as a tool to evaluate the differential expression of iodine metabolizing genes, thyroid hormone genes, and select miRNAs among thyroid cancer patients at intermediate and high risk of recurrence. My scientific interest in the field developed over the years as I studied the effects of age, race, and gender on the TSH distribution and the consequences of overtreating indolent disease. Through collaboration with an outstanding multi-disciplinary team with complementary research skills, I help shed light on the biology of the disease and the effects of excess treatment in patients with thyroid cancer.
