Mary C. Frates, MD, FACR is Associate Professor of Radiology at Harvard Medical School and the Assistant Director of Ultrasound at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Boston. A member of the Ultrasound division since 1991, she joined the award winning Thyroid Nodule Clinic staff in 1996.
Dr. Frates is a co-author of the newly released American College of Radiology Thyroid Imaging, Reporting and Data System (TI-RADS) as well as the ACR Thyroid Ultrasound Reporting Lexicon. She was the Chairperson and first author for the Society of Radiologists in Ultrasound Consensus Conference on the Management of Thyroid Nodules in 2004. Much of her research focuses the role of ultrasound in thyroid disease.
