Dr. Michael Odell specializes in ablative and reconstructive surgery of the head and neck, which includes a significant volume of head and neck endocrine surgery. He is a medical graduate of Queen’s University and completed his residency in Otolaryngology–Head and Neck surgery at the University of British Columbia. He completed an AHNS accredited Fellowship in Head and Neck surgery at the University of Toronto. He has held staff positions in Toronto, St. Louis and now, Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, where he is currently the Vice Chair in charge of Clinical Activities and Quality in the Department of Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery at the University of Ottawa. He is also the lead of the Ottawa Hospital Thyroid Diseases Community of Practice. His clinical practice currently encompasses all aspects of ablative and reconstructive microsurgery of the head and neck. Research and policy interests include improving the efficiency of care delivery and standardizing patterns of practice in the management of head and neck cancers, including those of the thyroid gland.
