Dr. Ricardo Lloyd is a Professor of Pathology. He earned his MD and PhD degrees from the University of Wisconsin in 1975 followed by residency training in anatomic and clinical pathology. He did a postdoctoral fellowship at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York.Dr. Lloyd joined the faculty at the University of Michigan in 1981 where he rose to Professor of Pathology. He joined the Mayo Clinic in 1993 where he was the Vernon F. and Earline D. Dale Professor at Mayo Foundation. He moved to the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health in 2010 where he is the Director of the Cancer Center Biobank. Dr. Lloyd’s main area of interest is in endocrine pathology. In 2010 he and his collaborators described a new aggressive variant of papillary thyroid carcinoma, the hobnail variant. Dr Lloyd has published over 500 original manuscripts.
