Virginia Livolsi

  • Dr. LiVolsi is a well-respected, diagnostic surgical pathologist, especially in the areas of endocrine (thyroid) and head pathology. She has written over 400 original articles which predominantly have focused on diagnostic and molecular aspects of thyroid neoplasms. In addition, she has written multiple books including, “”Surgical Pathology of the Thyroid””.

    Dr. LiVolsi is a member of numerous pathology and endocrinology organizations. She has served as president of the United States and Canadian Academy of Pathology, the Author Purdy Stout Society of Surgical Pathologists, the Association of Directors of Anatomic and Surgical Pathology and the Endocrine Pathology Society. She serves on numerous editorial Boards of Pathology and Endocrine journals.

    For fifteen years, Dr. LiVolsi was a member of the Pathology Panel of the Chernobyl Tissue Bank and served as its Chair for four years. This group reviews the tumors arising in individuals exposed to radiation after the nuclear accident.
