Consultant Surgeon and Head of the Endocrine Surgery Unit of the Surgical Department of the University of Poitiers, France. Prof. Donatini’s research involves thyroid oncology and parathyroid diseases and adrenal disease (particularly adrenal cancer and pheochromocytoma). He is involved in basic research on cellular transplantation at the INSERM Unit 1312 IRMETIST of University of Poitiers.He also developed a teaching model in endocrine surgery at the Anatomy and BiomechanicSimulation Laboratory at the University of Poitiers – The SIMLIFE for Endocrine Surgeryto train junior surgeons to learn and master difficult endocrine surgery procedures such as laparoscopic adrenalectomy or lateral neck dissection for thyroid cancer. He has authored or co-authored 94 articles and 13 textbook chapters on topics of endocrine or endocrine related surgery and participate in multicenter national and international studies. He is a pioneer in near-infrared auto-fluorescence studies of parathyroid glands (NIRAF)which represents his main research interest at the moment.
