Ian Witterick is the Otolaryngologist-in-Chief at Sinai Health in Toronto and a Professor in the Department of Otolaryngology – Head & Neck Surgery (OHNS) in the Temerty Faculty of Medicine (TFoM) at the University of Toronto (UofT). He completed his 10-year term in June 2022 as the George and Helen Vari Chair of the Department of OHNS at the UofT. He is a Past President of both the Canadian Society of Otolaryngology – Head & Neck Surgery (CSO-HNS) and the North American Skull Base Society. He is the current Chair of the Skull Base Section for the American Head and Neck Society and a member of the steering committee for the World Congress on Thyroid Cancer. In 2018 he was selected by the International Federation of Head & Neck Oncologic Societies (IFHNOS) to go on their World Tour for four weeks presenting on a variety of head & neck oncology/skull base topics. In education, he has been a Program Director, Director of Continuing Professional Development, Chair of the Royal College examination committee and Chair of the TFoM’s Education Committee. He has received numerous education awards including the Charles Mickle Fellowship Award, the topmost award in postgraduate education in the TFoM and the Education Excellence Award from the CSO-HNS. He has published more than 185 peer-reviewed publications, 36 book chapters and been invited to speak on head & neck oncology and skull base topics nationally and internationally.
