Henning Dralle is Professor of Surgery at University Hospital Essen, Germany. He initially did postgraduate training in Clinical Pathology at University Hospital Hamburg, Germany, before starting with surgical training at Hannover Medical School,Germany. After having specialized in General and Visceral Surgery he habilitated in 1986 and received Extraordinary Professorship in 1990 at Hannover Medical School. 1994 he was appointed to full Professor and Head of Department of Surgery at University of Halle, Germany. Since 2016 he is Head of Section of Endocrine Surgery at University Hospital Essen and Head of Department of Surgery at Campus Sankt Josef of University Hospital Essen, Germany. He is Member of the Leopoldina, the German Academy of Sciences, and received Doctor Honoris Causae of University of Bergen, Norway, and of University of Krakow, Poland. He received several national and international research prizes including the Light of Live Foundation Award, MSKCC, New York, and the Aldo Pinchera Award, Rome.
