Dr. Otto is Associate Professor at the Department of Head and Neck – Endocrine Oncology at Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, Florida. Following a Fellowship in Head and Neck Surgery at the University of Toronto, she joined the faculty of the University of Mississippi as Assistant Professor, before moving to Tampa. During her 6 years at Moffitt Cancer Center, she has focused her academic and clinical interests on thyroid cancer and thyroid nodules, now performing almost 300 thyroid surgeries per year. She has published on the evaluation of thyroid nodules and surgical outcomes in thyroid neoplasia; and on the application of molecular markers to the evaluation of indeterminate thyroid cytopathology, with a particular focus on the use of molecular markers to guide surgical planning. As Chair of the Departmental Clinical Pathways Committee, Dr Otto leads Moffitt’s Endocrine Program clinical standards group, which has developed a cutting edge approach to incorporation of National and International Guidelines into clinical practice, through which Moffitt has developed a well-deserved reputation in their patient-centric, evidence-based, collaboratively developed, multidisciplinary approach to patient care.
