Ronald Balassanian is an Associate Professor of Pathology at the University of California San Francisco. His main focus is on performing and interpreting Fine Needle Aspiration (FNA). He has taught FNA biopsy in a number of forums. For the last 7 years, he has been the course director for an FNA workshop for the American Society of Cytopathology (ASC) Annual Scientific Meeting. He has also run FNA workshop at the United States and Canadian Academy of Pathology (USCAP), Diagnostic Cytopathology Update course the USCAP Immersion Cytopathology Course. He has been a faculty person for the Advanced Practical Pathology Program course on US-FNA, run by the College of American Pathologists. Dr. Balassanian is also a member of the National Comprehensive Cancer Network Breast Panel. As a member of the UCSF Global Cancer Program Steering Committee, he is leading projects in Peru and Tanzania, developing FNA services in low resource settings.
