Salvatore Benvenga

  • After post-graduate training at the University of Pisa, Italy, spent six years at the NIDDK, National Institutes of Health. He has received several fellowships, awards or prizes, such as the Borroughs-Wellcome prize, the G. Zagari prize for Medicine. Member of several national and international scientific societies, which he served in diverse roles (Treasurer, Executive Committee, Chair of Study groups, member of committees). For instance:
    • Component of the Tak force for writing the “Management Guidelines for Children with Thyroid Nodules and Differentiated Thyroid Cancer” and the “American Thyroid Association Scientific Statement on the Use of Potassium Iodide Ingestion in a Nuclear Emergency”.
    • Component of the Endocrine Disruptors Committee of the European Society of Endocrinology; component of the Patients Committee of the Italian Society of Endocrinology.
    • Author of 327 papers with over 5,100 citations and H-index of 35 [Scopus].
