Dr. Mandel is a Professor of Medicine and Radiology at the University of Pennsylvania Perelman School of Medicine. She serves as the Associate Chief of the Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism and is the Director of the Thyroid Nodule Clinic. She is a the current President of the Endocrine Society, and is a member of the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists, and the American Thyroid Association. Dr. Mandel was on the writing groups for both the ATA Guidelines for Patients with Thyroid Nodules and Differentiated Thyroid Cancer and the ATA Guidelines for the Management of Thyroid Disease During Pregnancy. Dr. Mandel directs Ultrasound Workshops for the ATA and Endocrine Society. She has authored papers in the New England Journal of Medicine, the Annals of Internal Medicine, and JAMA. Her research interests are risk stratification of thyroid nodules and thyroid cancer.
