Dr. Virginia LiVolsi is an internationally renowned endocrine pathologist with a sub-specialty interest in thyroid neoplasms. She has been a member and Chair of the Pathology Panel of the Chernobyl Tumor Bank; this panel reviews the histology of thyroid nodules and tumors arising in radiation exposed individuals following the Chernobyl nuclear accident. She has been President of the US Canadian Academy of Pathology and the Endocrine Pathology Society. She has published over 420 original articles, predominantly in endocrine pathology. She is a recognized educator and mentor of trainees in Anatomical Pathology. She currently is Professor of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine and also of Otorhinolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery at the University of Pennsylvania, Perelman School of Medicine in Philadelphia, U.S.A.
