The Bryan McIver Traveling Fellowship
The World Congress of Thyroid Cancer is pleased to announce this opportunity to promote diversity, equity and inclusion in thyroid cancer care.
Previously known as the WCTC Traveling Fellowship, the program has been renamed in honour of Dr. Bryan McIver, a founding member of WCTC. The Dr. Bryan McIver Traveling Fellowship is intended for physicians from around the world with a strong interest in building a practice focused on thyroid cancer care who may not otherwise have the opportunity to attend the congress.
Five selected fellows will receive support to attend the congress, including travel costs*, hotel accommodations*, and WCTC conference registration*. In addition to financial support, the program aims to foster long-term mentorship, academic collaboration, and professional connections tailored to each fellow’s interests and career goals.
Following the congress, fellows will be asked to provide a brief reflection outlining key learnings from the experience, how they plan to apply this knowledge in their practice, and feedback on the program. Through this initiative, WCTC hopes to expand access to high-quality thyroid cancer education and care globally while supporting the development of a more diverse and connected international thyroid cancer community.
Previous fellowship recipients are not eligible to reapply.

- Your experiences and challenges as an underrepresented individual in medicine and thyroid cancer care

Selection Process
Considerations during the ranking process include:
- Expressed enthusiasm for career development and patient care in the field of thyroid cancer
- Anticipated impact of the applicant’s plan for applying the knowledge gained by the WCTC experience
- Assessment and understanding of the applicant’s unique challenges
Applications will be reviewed and ranked by the WCTC DEI Committee, with awardee recommendations presented to the WCTC Board for final approval. As part of this process, Dr. Lindsay Bischoff, Dr. Caitlin McMullen, and their review team are honoured to evaluate this year’s Traveling Fellowship applications. Each submission is thoughtfully assessed with consideration for professional achievement, leadership, and the applicant’s potential to contribute meaningfully to the field through this unique educational opportunity.
