WCTC Traveling Fellowship
The WCTC traveling fellowship is designed to create opportunities for underrepresented physicians from all over the world who have a strong interest in developing a practice focused on the treatment of thyroid cancer. Every four years, a grant will be awarded to 2 individuals to cover travel, hotel accommodations, and WCTC conference registration. Through this program, we also aim to connect awardees with long-term mentorship and academic opportunities as directed by the needs and interests of the applicant.
At the conclusion of the congress, the awardee is expected to provide a brief reflection on what they have gained from the experience, how they will apply this knowledge, and provide feedback for the program. We look forward to increasing the diversity of physicians within the field of thyroid cancer globally as well as developing long-term mentorships and connections with these traveling fellows. Previous awardees are not eligible for re-application.
Application Instructions
- Submit a brief statement (approximately 500 words) of interest in the fellowship that includes the following:
- A description of how you would apply the knowledge and experience gained from this experience to your practice/community
- Factors that are unique to your experience as an underrepresented individual in medicine and the field of thyroid cancer care.
- CV
- Name and contact information of one professional reference
Application Deadline: January 31, 2023
Selection Process
Applications will be reviewed and ranked by the DEI Committee of the WCTC. Awardee recommendations will be presented to the board for final approval.
Considerations during the ranking process include:
- Expressed enthusiasm for career development and patient care in the field of thyroid cancer
- Anticipated impact of the applicant’s plan for applying the knowledge gained by the WCTC experience
- Assessment and understanding of the applicant’s unique challenges
